Castle Rock Mural Dedication at Rio at the Rock
Douglas County Housing Partnership is proud to unveil a new four-story mural at Rio at the Rock (Reyn Rock Apartments) in Castle Rock. Painted on the side of the building at 403 N. Perry Street, the mural commemorates two milestones at once: Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the 250th birthday of the United States.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, we are holding a public dedication ceremony at the mural site, and we hope you will join us. It is a chance to come together as neighbors, celebrate the place we call home, and recognize the role affordable housing plays in keeping our community strong.

About the mural
The large-scale artwork was created by Colorado Springs-based muralist Michael Beenenga. It features imagery drawn from Castle Rock’s local history, including a warhorse, a locomotive, and the Castle Rock formation in the background.
The project came together with the community at its center. It was supported in part by a $15,000 grant from the Town of Castle Rock and shaped by input from senior residents who shared their memories of the town’s history. Alongside the mural, we are making other improvements around the property, including xeriscaping and additional benches for residents and visitors.
A tribute to Castle Rock’s heritage
The building is being renamed Rio at the Rock, a tribute to Castle Rock’s mining heritage. Together, the new name and the new mural mark a moment of pride for the property and the wider community.
As we celebrate Colorado’s 150 years and America’s 250 years, we are also celebrating the people, partners, and neighbors who make Douglas County a place worth investing in. We look forward to celebrating with you on June 24.
