Down Payment Assistance

Through this program DCHP provides low-and moderate-income households the opportunity to purchase their first home in Douglas County. This program increases a buyer’s purchase power by giving these households the ability to borrow at a low interest rate and ultimately bridging the gap between lower wages and higher cost housing.

Qualifications include:

  • Borrowers must be a first-time homebuyers as defined by HUD
  • Preference is given to borrowers currently living or working within Douglas County
  • Borrowers’ Income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income
  • Borrowers will typically contribute 1% of the purchase price with their own funds and must contribute at least $1,000
  • Borrowers must occupy the home as their primary residence  (subject to HUD affordability regulations)
  • Property must meet HUD guidelines
  • Property purchase price cannot exceed $556,000

5 Steps to Home Ownership With Down Payment Assistance

Follow these steps with the Douglas County Housing Partnership, and let us lead you to your own home in Douglas County!

STEP 1:

Attend a FREE First-Time Home Buyer Class*
Must attend a CHFA approved class.

STEP 2:

Complete a loan application with one of our Approved Lenders
Lender must submit Loan Package to DCHP.

STEP 3:

Meet with DCHP to determine eligibility.

Choose a Real Estate Agent and select your home in Douglas County

STEP 5:

Close on the home purchase transaction and MOVE IN!
